Awww, thanks so much for the mention, Noor! Congrats, congrats, so much congrats! Super excited for you and so glad I could help. Well done for getting this post done and vulnerably sharing your journey. Restarting habits takes effort, and it’s ok to honor this season of slowing down and focusing on growing a baby! That’s a big deal and a massive accomplishment! Super happy for you!!

Yeah pregnancy is tough! Kudos to you for still trying your best to get back into it. I'm going through a personal crisis. I confessed my feelings to a friend. They said no because they can't do long distance and we live in different countries. We're still good friends and they were very kind and encouraging.

But now my brain is constantly trying to process what this means for me and my life, and how to move forward. It has been incredibly draining and impacting my writing as well. (Not nearly to the same extent as pregnancy! But still no walk in the park.)

For me, I'm able to write the daily social media posts and Substack notes, since they're so short. And I just write about my emotional turmoil about my crush anyway. (I journal on social media lol.) I'm still keeping up with my chapters for my book coach, since I paid her and don't want to waste my money lol. And I've been writing this Pokemon fanfic short story to process my feelings towards my crush. (And yes, I'll show them lol.)

Currently I have trouble getting into my nonfiction, and am avoiding all business-related stuff. So I'm only sticking to familiar, routine things like what I mentioned above. Also, aside from what I'm doing for my book coach, the only writing I got done, were directly related to my distress, since I use the writing to process it.

Thank you for sharing this Sieran. Unrequited love is a really difficult feeling to contend with, no wonder there are so many plays, poems, stories, films about it. I love that you’re pouring your feelings into your fiction writing (that Pokémon fan fic will be so good). It’s turning turmoil into art, which i think is a special gift that artists have. It sounds to me like you’re still doing a lot of writing despite how much you’re going through and I think that’s something to celebrate. It’s easier said than done, but maybe give yourself some grace? You are doing great! Keep it up, friend. I’m cheering you on.

Thank you for your kind words, Noor!! I'm very thankful that I still get to talk regularly with my crush. (We just chatted today as well.) But yeah it's a lot of processing and making sense of my life, haha. I feel very good about the pokemon fanfic too! Quite proud of it. :D Especially proud of the ending I came up with. (Well I'm a pantser so the ending just came without planning.) I hope my crush will like it too.

Yes, we should both give ourselves some grace! :D

Just wanted to reassure you that "an organized space helps me have an organized mind" is absolutely a brain feature (not a bug). Our brains are influenced by (and influence) our environments in so many ways. We can even see this in the metaphors of our language -- we change "perspectives", adopt another "point of view", have political "left" and "right", have "low moods" or are feeling more "up", etc. etc.

Interestingly, we not only describe thoughts and feelings using environmental metaphors, but physically embodying those metaphors can also shift our feelings and thoughts. So it makes perfect sense that to feel less "cluttered" in one's head, tidying something/anything can help one's head feel more tidy and ordered as well. When we change our location in working on something, our perspective both literally and metaphorically can change to breath fresh life into what we're doing.

Personally, bringing some kind of order to my environment is my number 1 strategy for overwhelm or needed momentum-building.

You can do this! 💗

Noor, congrats. I was literally going to DM you today before this post showed up, because I’ve noticed your absence and have been wondering how you’re doing.

I know exactly what you mean about getting back into the swing, but I think this one is a bit more challenging. Hopefully you’ll do what you can and that will be enough. Just know you’re missed.
